Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!
Today I wanted to share with you both my excitement and my thoughts on the famous Stunna Lip Paint by Fenty Beauty which, as I am sure you know by now, is the make up brand created by Rihanna. I’ve always loved her and her music and I think she’s such an iconic celebrity so when she announced she was going to drop and entire collection I couldn’t wait to try it! Unfortunately, as I live in Italy, I had to wait several months before having an easy access to Fenty Beauty products but as soon as they dropped in Sephora Italy, I didn’t think twice before getting my hands on the Stunna Lip Paint in the shade “Uncensored”.
I was looking for a nice red lipstick or lip paint since that’s probably my favourite colour to wear and guess what? When I found out the release date of Fenty Beauty in Italy I waited until “Uncensored” was available because first of all, I’ll tell you this straight away: you can’t deny this is an amazing shade of red. In Sephora Italy, the Stunna Lip Paint retails for 22 € which is 24 $.
But let’s go a bit deeper and find out something about this product and how it performs.
The Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint comes in an octangular-shaped glass jar with a metallic looking top that says the brand name on it. Once you have it on your hands, the first thing you notice is that it feels very heavy and luxurious for a lip paint which I think is something positive for a product. Inside you get 4 ml of product which is 0.13 FL. OZ and on the unit carton it says “One-stroke intensity, 12 hours matte wear. Urivaled precision wand.”
Speaking of the wand, it certainly has a very unique shape as it has a rounded top which seemed a bit scary at the beginning, but once you apply the product on you can actually see that it’s not that scary and actually works pretty well.
One thing I want to say is that like every lip paint it can be pretty difficult to get straight and precise lines at the beginning, especially if you’ve never used it. So, even thou it says “precision wand” I would still suggest to use a lip liner before applying the lip paint because it just helps you to be a bit more precise with the application. So, as you can guess, I think that the wand is not super precise even thou it delivers a good amount of product in a great way, but not that perfect to line the lips.
When it comes to the lip paint, I will start by saying that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this shade of red and I really mean that I waited until this dropped in Sephora to get a red lip paint that fully convinced me, but I was a bit disappointed afterwards and here’s why: when it claims to be a “one-stroke intensity”, I totally agree with that because the pigment is there and it’s full and you can’t deny that. But when it comes to the “12 hr matte wear” I have got more than one thing to say because even if this lip paint dries pretty matte, it still doesn’t dry completely and this of course leads to the fact that this lip paint can’t and doesn’t last 12 hours.
*I did not edit this pic so you can actually see the true colour of the lip paint: also, on top you can see there’s a difference between the dried part and the part that’s not dry still*
The first time I wore this was for a lunch with my friends and even thou I was pretty happy with the result, I was pretty disappointed to see that some of the lipstick came off on the glass I was drinking from and then, once I finished my lunch, I noticed the lip paint was all smudged and I had it all over the are around my mouth, It looked so bad that I couldn’t even adjust it and the only thing I could do was to take it off completely and reapply it, but once I saw how it performed I didn’t bother doing that again that day.
This didn’t stop me from using it few more times because I still think it’s an amazing colour and it has an amazing pigment and intensity, but unfortunately every time I wear it I get so disappointed because it gets everywhere and I have to take it off completely and reapply it. In the following pics you can see what happens when you try to tap on the dried lip paint: the colour comes off and it becomes smudgy”
Plus, I tried to take it off with micellar water which is what I normally use to take my make up, I saw that it leaves a stain so it’s actually difficult to take it off.
This pic is also unedited to show you what it looks in real life.
So, final thoughts.
I think that the Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored is an amazing shade of red and even thou I LOVE the intensity and the pigment of it, I can’t get over the fact that if you drink or eat it gets all smudged to the point where you need to take it off and reapply it. Now that I know it, I try to be a bit more careful when I wear it but it still gets everywhere and I need to do something about it. Personally, I don’t think the price point is that crazy but it’s still something so I was expecting a bit more in terms of duration, which of course is one of the key aspects of lip paints and lipsticks.
Would I reccommend this product? I guess no. Again, I love the colour and I think it’s very unique but I don’t really like how this performs because yes, once you apply it it looks AMAZING and your lips are definitely popping (I have received a lot of compliments about it, but the same person who first complimented it also said that I got it everywhere), but if you’re going out for dinner or for a drink, you definitely have to check it and adjust or reapply it which for 22 € I don’t think that should happen.
I feel very disappointed about this because I’m trying to love it a bit more but I just can’t. What do you think about the Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint? Have you experienced something similar? Let me know in the comments below!
Hope you enjoyed my review and I will hopefully see you in my next one, bye! xx
